Low Heat Cement

Low Heat Cement as the name indicates these type of cement is used inorder to reduce the amount of heat evolved during setting.

But how the heat evolved during setting can be reduced ?

Yes, the heat during setting can be reduced by lowering the percentage of tri-calcium aluminate C3A of about 5% an higher percentage of di-calcium silicate C2S of about 46%.

Uses of Low Heat Cement:

1. It can be used in mass construction works.

2. The concretes made by low heat cement is highly resistance against ruptures.

Disadvantages of Low Heat Cement:

1. Cannot be used in cold weather conditions because it will retard the setting time than in ordinary weather.

2. The compressive strength is lower than that of ordinary cement.
